イェーガン

イェーガン（YaganまたはEagan、ˈjæɪgən、1795年?‐1833年7月11日）は、オーストラリア先住民族の一部族ヌンガー族の戦士。パースに入植しその地を支配したヨーロッパ人に対するアボリジニの抵抗運動において、彼は重要な役割を担った。入植者を何度も襲撃したイェーガンには生死を問わない懸賞金がかけられ、最終的にヨーロッパ人の若者に射殺された。西オーストラリアにおいて彼の死は、入植した者たちが先住民族に為した不正や、時に野蛮きわまりない処遇をなした象徴として伝承されている。そしてイェーガンは、ヌンガー族の勇者としてオーストラリア中に知られている。
